2023-12-14 08:50
Odaily News Turkish Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek said in an interview that the formulation of regulations related to cryptocurrency has entered the final stage. Şimşek pointed out that among the upcoming laws, cryptocurrencies will be defined first, and in addition there will be changes in the CMB law. According to it, cryptoassets are defined as “intangible assets that can express value or rights.” Cryptoasset service providers and cryptoasset custody services are also defined, and relevant regulations are expected to be formulated for the operation of the platform. (Bitcoinsistemi) According to previous news in October, Turkey’s official gazette released the 2024 presidential annual plan, which aims to complete the country’s encryption regulations within the next year. In the nearly 500-page document, Section 400.5 reveals planned research into defining crypto-assets that may then be appropriately taxed. Cryptoasset providers, i.e. cryptocurrency exchanges, will also be given their legal definition. However, the document contains no other details of future provisions.
