Odaily News: Payment giant Visa announced on Thursday that it has completed testing for users to directly pay gas fees on the blockchain with credit cards or debit cards using fiat currency.
The experiment was conducted on the Ethereum Goerli test network, using a payment master contract to represent users in paying gas fees. This means that users can send blockchain transactions without having to worry about maintaining an Ethereum balance. Visa believes that this contract can make it easier for a wider range of users to engage in transactions.
The Visa technical team stated, "Our experiment aims to provide a promising approach to substantially address the challenges of blockchain-based transactions. By leveraging the innovative concept of a paymaster, combined with account abstraction and the ERC-4337 standard, we are exploring the potential to redefine the process of blockchain-based transactions."
Visa also stated that merchants or decentralized applications can run their own paymaster solutions, or existing wallets and paymaster service providers can offer card-based gas fee payment options alongside other paymaster products. (Blockworks)
According to previous reports, Visa recently published an article titled "Rethinking Digital Transactions with Account Abstraction". The article mentioned that in order to better understand the Ethereum account abstraction proposal ERC-4337, the Visa team has deployed two sets of experimental Visa Paymaster contracts on the Ethereum Goerli test network, demonstrating how to redesign gas fees on the blockchain to enhance user convenience.
