Odaily News According to the German business daily Handelsblatt, the country's financial regulatory authority, Bafin, is investigating Worldcoin. A spokesperson stated, "If a company attempts to enter the German market without the necessary permits, such as using German-language websites or applications, we will investigate it" (Reuters).
Earlier on July 31st, the Chairman of the German data regulatory authority, Michael Will, stated that the German data regulatory authority has been investigating the Worldcoin project since the end of last year due to its involvement with large-scale sensitive biometric data. Will mentioned that this brings forth many risks, including whether users have explicitly consented for their highly sensitive biometric data to be processed on a "fully and explicitly" informed basis.
In addition, the French privacy regulatory authority, CNIL, and the UK data regulatory authority, the Information Commissioner's Office, are also investigating Worldcoin.
