Odaily News: Sui's official website has announced that the Sui testnet now supports liquidity staking. Once all compatibility tests are complete, this feature will be added to the mainnet in the next upgrade.



Sui explains that this upgrade is completed through SIP6. Before this, stakers on the Sui network would receive a wrapped asset representing their stake, but this asset could not be freely circulated. Therefore, this meant that the staked tokens were effectively removed from circulation. However, after the upgrade, the wrapped tokens will be freely transferrable and tradable. This means that developers will be able to provide liquidity staking services and create more DeFi applications based on this.
