Fed Meeting Minutes: "Nearly all" attendees agreed to pause rate hikes in June.
2023-07-05 18:20
Odaily News: Minutes of the Federal Reserve meeting show that Fed officials unanimously agreed to keep interest rates unchanged at the June meeting, in order to buy time and assess the need for further rate hikes, despite the expectation of most committee members for further policy tightening.

Due to slow progress in curbing inflation, "some participants" wanted to raise rates in June, but "nearly all participants" considered maintaining the current federal funds rate of 5% to 5.25% to be appropriate or acceptable.

"Most participants believed that keeping the target range unchanged at this meeting would allow them more time to evaluate economic progress" towards achieving the goal of bringing inflation back to the 2% target level.
