Pirated Copies of *The Odyssey* Found Carrying Cryptocurrency-Stealing Malware

Odaily Planet Daily News Cybersecurity firm Bitdefender stated that days after the release of the film *The Odyssey*, pirated files disguised as HD WEBRips and Blu-ray resources have begun circulating, which are actually executable files that infect Windows devices after being run, carrying the information-stealing malware Lumma Stealer. The attackers used icons resembling VLC Media Player or video files to disguise themselves.
Lumma Stealer can steal browser passwords, payment information, autofill data, remote desktop credentials, and cryptocurrency wallets, as well as obtain authentication cookies, making even accounts with multi-factor authentication enabled potentially vulnerable to hijacking. Bitdefender stated that its products have blocked related downloads and flagged command-and-control domains associated with the operation, which is highly similar to activities in 2025 that spread the same malware disguised as files for *Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning*.
