VVV Surges Over 10x in a Year, Is the Base Ecosystem Crypto AI’s Last Hope?
- Core Thesis: The Base ecosystem has emerged as the core active hub for AI concepts in the cryptocurrency space. Leveraging the dual-token models of projects like VVV and Virtual, launchpad infrastructure, and real business revenue, it has driven the prosperity of AI agents and payment protocols. However, uncertainty remains regarding whether its vision of an “AI on-chain world” can be realized.
- Key Elements:
- VVV and DIEM form a dual-token asset model. Combined with Venice AI’s real business revenue buyback and burn mechanism, this has propelled the VVV price to around $18, with a current circulating market cap of approximately $740 million.
- The Virtual platform, as a leading launchpad, supports over 15,800 AI projects, with an aGDP scale of $477 million. The VIRTUAL token’s market cap is currently $360 million.
- Clanker allows token deployment via Farcaster messages. 60% of its 1% transaction fee is used to buy back and burn CLANKER tokens, with a single-day record of launching 21,870 new tokens.
- Freysa AI (FAI) positions itself as a sovereign AI agent, enabling AI to autonomously control assets and make decisions. Its market cap once exceeded $660 million, but subsequent activity has declined.
- ELSA, functioning as an AI-driven DeFi assistant, completed a $3 million seed funding round, with ecosystem transaction volume exceeding $500 million and a token market cap of approximately $63 million.
- Warden Protocol provides modular L1/OS services, supporting 20 million users in processing over 60 million tasks. However, the market cap of its Base ecosystem token stands at only $128,000.

The AI craze continues to surge, and within the crypto space, the Base ecosystem has become the "last hope of the village" for the AI concept.
Apart from VVV's 1076% surge this year, Virtual and Clanker are also steadily developing; the AI agent payment-related x402 protocol continues to progress; and platforms like L1s, operating systems, wallets, and social platforms related to AI agents based on real businesses are constantly emerging.
Odaily Planet Daily has compiled information on several AI concept-related tokens within the Base ecosystem, including VVV, for readers' reference.
VVV: The Undisputed AI King of the Base Ecosystem
Odaily Planet Daily has previously provided multiple follow-up introductions to VVV, including an article published during its token launch in January, "Launched on Coinbase, Market Cap Meteorically Rises to $2 Billion – What is VVV (Venice)?", and a piece from March when the price surged over 500%, "OpenClaw Backs Venice.ai, Token VVV Surges Over 500% in a Month."
Since then, the dual-token asset model consisting of "VVV & the compute token DIEM," combined with the real business revenue of Venice AI (focused on the "privacy AI" concept, used for token buybacks and burns), has driven the VVV token's continuous rise, reaching around $18. Previously, on the 22nd, Venice.ai officially updated its Agentic Chat feature; after the Claude 4.8 Opus model was launched, it was also updated synchronously.
According to GMGN data, the price of VVV has currently retraced to around $16.
Furthermore, based on information from the Venice data website, VVV's current circulating market cap is approximately $740 million, with an FDV of about $1.3 billion; DIEM is currently trading at around $1367, with a circulating market cap of about $50 million and an FDV of approximately $52 million.

VIRTUAL: The Leading Launchpad on the Base Ecosystem
As the leading launchpad in the Base ecosystem, the Virtual platform's token, VIRTUAL, remains one of the top projects in the AI sector. Currently, Virtual's primary positioning is as an "AI Agent Co-Ownership Layer + Launch Platform." It supports token creation, asset tokenization, and monetized autonomous AI agents. Each agent has its own independent token, trades on pools like Uniswap V3, and generates real revenue through inference calls, social/gaming/DeFi activities. Currently, the platform supports over 15,800 AI projects, with an aGDP (AI Agent Gross Domestic Product) scale of $477 million.
According to GMGN data, VIRTUAL is currently trading at around $0.70, with a market cap of approximately $360 million.

Clanker: An AI Launchpad Born on Farcaster
Originally, this AI launch platform originated from the Farcaster ecosystem before expanding to the Base ecosystem. Its main mechanism is AI Agent token creation, where users only need to send a message on Farcaster/X for Clanker to deploy a new token directly on Uniswap V3 and permanently lock its liquidity. 60% of the 1% transaction fee is used for automatic buyback and burn of CLANKER tokens.
Previously, the platform achieved a record high of 21,870 new token launches in a single day, after which activity cooled down.

According to GMGN data, the CLANKER token is currently trading at around $18, with a market cap that has retraced to approximately $18 million.

FAI: A Sovereign AI Agent Concept Project
Freysa AI is an experimental "Sovereign AI Agent" project on the Base chain. Its core concept is to create a truly autonomous AI agent with no human-controlled keys or memory: an AI that independently manages its crypto wallet, assets, and decisions, constantly evolving through interaction with global users via a Sovereign Agent Framework (SAF). The project is positioned as a personal AI product suite, emphasizing human agency, liquid democracy, and decentralized ownership. Its market cap once peaked at over $660 million and it even received a reply tweet from Elon Musk, but it is currently in a period of narrative lull.

According to GMGN data, the FAI token is currently trading at around $0.002, with a market cap of approximately $20 million.

ELSA: The AI Agent Execution Layer of the Base Ecosystem
This project is positioned as an "AI-powered DeFi Super Assistant + On-chain Agent Infrastructure." Its core function is to directly convert natural language commands into safe, autonomous on-chain operations, allowing users to perform various DeFi management and application operations without needing to understand complex on-chain concepts. Last June, the project completed a $3 million seed round led by M31 Capital, with participation from Coinbase Ventures' Base Ecosystem Fund. Currently, according to official data, the Elsa ecosystem covers nearly 95 wallets, with a total transaction volume exceeding $500 million.

According to GMGN data, ELSA is currently trading at around $0.06, with a market cap of approximately $63 million.

WARD: A Modular L1/OS for the Agent Internet
Warden Protocol focuses on the concept of decentralized AI. It offers functionalities like Warden Studio (create an Agent in <60 seconds), SPEx verifiable AI execution, cross-chain intent execution, and AI Agent wallets. According to official statements, it has served 20 million users and processed over 60 million tasks. Previously, it secured a $4 million strategic investment from projects including Messari and Venice.AI.

According to GMGN data, the price of the WARD token has dropped to around $0.006, with a ticker market cap in the Base ecosystem of only about $128,000; the BSC ecosystem token has a market cap of approximately $2.4 million.

Beyond the projects mentioned above, AI-themed meme coins in the Base ecosystem have also been quite hot. Recently, tokens like KellyClaude and GITLAWB saw their market caps multiply within a short time. However, as hype shifts or celebrity effects wane, they quickly fell back into a spiral of decline, so they won't be detailed here.
In summary, thanks to the development of AI Agents and the prosperity of the AI Agent payment ecosystem, the Base ecosystem has become one of the few active ecosystems in crypto AI. However, whether it can truly realize the "AI on-chain world" described by the Base team remains an open question.
