Japan's Financial Services Agency Establishes New Cryptocurrency and Stablecoin Division, Toshiaki Adomi Appointed as First Director

Odaily News: The Financial Services Agency of Japan has announced personnel appointments as part of its organizational restructuring. As part of these changes, the agency has established a new "Cryptocurrency and Stablecoin Division" dedicated to overseeing the regulation of crypto assets and stablecoins, with Toshiaki Adomi appointed as its first director. Toshiaki Adomi graduated from the Faculty of Law at Osaka University in 2002 before joining the Financial Services Agency. He subsequently obtained an MBA from the University of Birmingham in the UK and a Master of Laws from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He has held various positions in banking supervision and policy coordination. Since July 2025, he has served as a Counselor in the General Policy Bureau, and as of August 1, 2026, he has been serving as the Senior Counselor for Postal Savings and Insurance Supervision.
