US military announces 15,000 troops to be deployed in the Strait of Hormuz starting today, Iran warns "any intervention violates the ceasefire"
According to Odaily, the U.S. Central Command stated that the military will begin supporting "Operation Freedom" on May 4 to restore freedom of navigation for commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. This mission, ordered by President Trump, aims to provide support for merchant ships seeking free passage through this vital international trade route.
According to CCTV International News, on May 2 local time, Ali Nikzad, Vice Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly, emphasized during an interview on the coast of the Strait of Hormuz: "The Strait of Hormuz will not return to its pre-war state, and Iran will absolutely not take a step back from the Strait of Hormuz."
Stephen Innes, Managing Partner at SPI Asset Management, said in a note regarding the shipping plan: "This could shift the situation from confrontation to controlled stability. Of course, this is not without risk, as threats from (Iran) persist, and there remains uncertainty about Trump's plan, especially whether the U.S. will ultimately provide naval cover." (Jinshi)
