Warner Music Group — the major label conglomerate that counts Cardi B, Madonna, Dua Lipa and Ed Sheeran among many others under contract — announced this week that it is partnering with NFT marketplace OpenSea to accelerate the expansion of its artists into the Web3 space .

The partnership will give Warner Music artists early access to new OpenSea products, increase their exposure on the NFT marketplace, and feature a section of the OpenSea website dedicated to upcoming NFT projects. Artists will also receive professional support from OpenSea team members to help them grow their Web3 fan base and bring existing fan communities into the NFT space.

"Our partnership with OpenSea helps facilitate these (fan) communities, creating opportunities for artists to build deeper engagement, access and ownership by opening up Web3 tools and resources," Warner Chief Digital Officer Oana Ruxandra said in a statement. .

The first NFT series will be launched by Warner Music in partnership with celebrity chef Jeremy Fall's Web3 startup Probably Nothing.

Fall confirmed to Decrypt that Warner Music's first collaboration with OpenSea will be the release of an NFT Label Pass for Probably A Label, the Web3 label Fall launched with Warner Music last month.

The "NFT Label Pass" will allow holders to license songs from a membership-based community music library, create and own stakes in community-generated, IP-backed virtual artists, and access exclusive live events such as meet-and-greet artists and music executives Dinner and access to Probably A Label's upcoming music release.

Probably A Label's core mission is to empower artists and their fans to regain ownership of their music using Web3 technologies. Fall believes that Warner Music, a giant in the traditional music industry, will prove to be an excellent partner in this initiative.

“They’re the kind of major label that’s trying to get into the space the right way, and fit in with the current vibe, fit in with the culture,” Fall told Decrypt. “They’re supporting artists while also pushing the IP conversation forward.”

In addition to music-related perks, the NFT Label Pass will also grant holders access to Studio A and Studio B, an IP incubator that allows participants to leverage their ownership of some blue-chip NFTs such as Bored Apes and Cryptopunks to promote projects, studios There are options for development, financing, marketing and co-branding.

“In the NFT space, it’s great that people take ownership of IP,” Fall told Decrypt, “but if you don’t know what to do with them, it’s not very useful.”In recent months, other major record labels have raced to expand their Web3 operations and leverage Web3-related IP. In May this year, Universal Music Group (Universal Music Group)signed an agreement

, allowing its artists to release NFTs on LimeWire, a music-centric NFT marketplace. Earlier this month, Universal Music Group tapped Beyoncé’s music producer to lead Kingship, a virtual band based on Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT artwork.

On September 12, Kingship announced that it would bring in James Fauntleroy and Chauncey Hollis Jr. to create a new album for it. The two well-known producers have worked with Beyoncé and Rihanna, and Fauntleroy has won a Grammy Award.
