A new account has purchased over $190,000 betting that the Federal Reserve will not raise interest rates by 25 basis points after its July meeting.
The PPP Prediction Market Tool has monitored that in the Polymarket "Will the Fed raise interest rates by 25 basis points after the July meeting?" prediction event, a new account (0x0c689c8e78588fd3d02e56a6e787e7f9e9b09e76) purchased $196,000 on the outcome that the Fed will NOT hike by 25 bps after July, at an opening price of 72.5¢.
This event will be settled based on the statement released after the FOMC meeting in July, determining the change in the federal funds rate target range compared to before the meeting.
If the rate change does not correspond to an existing option, it will be rounded up to the nearest 25 basis points for settlement. For example, a rate cut or hike of 12.5 basis points will be calculated as 25 basis points.
The settlement is based on the official FOMC meeting statement and federal funds target rate data released by the Federal Reserve. If the relevant statement is not released before the end of the next scheduled meeting, the event will be settled as "unchanged."
The FOMC meeting for July is scheduled for July 28th and 29th.
