US media: Iran introduces new regulations for the Strait of Hormuz, requiring ships to declare to the "Persian Gulf Strait Authority" before transit
Odaily Planet Daily News According to a CNN report, a document shows that Iran has formulated a series of new rules for ships wishing to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, ignoring US warnings and continuing its efforts to institutionalize control over the waterway. This document, titled "Ship Information Declaration," was issued by Iran's newly established "Persian Gulf Strait Authority" (PGSA) and must be filled out by all transit ships to ensure safe passage. The PGSA document contains more than 40 questions, requiring ships to declare their name, identification number, previous names, country of origin, and destination. The document also requires the declaration of the nationality information of the registered owner, operator, and crew, as well as providing cargo details. The above information must be submitted via email before crossing the strait. A PGSA email stated that "complete and accurate information is crucial for processing ship passage applications" and that "the applicant will bear the consequences of any erroneous or incomplete information provided." It is currently unclear whether any shipping companies have applied to the PGSA for passage permits. Analysts point out that this move may expose shipping companies to the risk of US sanctions.
