If today's sharp decline is attributed to Trump imposing tariffs on the EU
(I don't believe there's any connection between the two)
then with the Davos Forum opening tomorrow
and Trump confirmed to attend
he will negotiate with EU leaders to purchase Greenland
Although Denmark currently holds sovereignty over Greenland
in reality, Greenland is a "liability" for Denmark
Denmark provides billions of dollars in annual fiscal subsidies to the island
averaging about 1,000 kroner per Dane paid for Greenland
in exchange only for Denmark's status as the world's 12th largest country by territory
essentially a geopolitical membership fee paid by Denmark
Trump's seemingly aggressive forced buying and selling
is just his usual tactic
Although Europe's overall strength is relatively weak now
you still have to give them the face they deserve
Who plays the game of "if you don't sell, I'll raise your tariffs"?
Actually, anyone with clear eyes knows Trump is after the rare earth resources
No one is foolish enough to seriously buy the national security pretext
Ultimately, I estimate the negotiation outcome will be:
1. The US military expands its garrison (since there's already a presence)
2. The US purchases XX years of resource extraction rights
3. Denmark still retains "sovereignty"
This way everyone takes a step back
The EU's face is preserved
Denmark saves money annually going forward
The US Congress can more easily approve development budgets
And Trump achieves his goal 😎
