1.TECH
Avalanche is a heterogeneous network composed of several different blockchains. Simply put, it scales horizontally by allowing everyone to build a custom chain with the tools provided.

All validators on Avalanche must validate a so-called"host"Network, which includes C, P and X chains. Validators can also choose to validate subnetworks (aka subnets). Each subnet is fully customizable and can even be chosen to run a different virtual machine.
Another innovation brought to the table by Avalanche is the Snow Consensus, which allows for high transaction throughput and finality while remaining decentralized and resilient to attacks.

2. Ecosystem
when people say"avalanche", they either refer to:
a) C chain - the EVM compatible chain that currently accommodates most applications;
b) The entire ecosystem, including multiple subnets.

3. Statistics
Avalanche just hit a new ATH in terms of daily transactions and gas usage thanks to the game chain running. C-Chain saw a considerable drop in usage in May, but since then it has also remained fairly stable to date.

4. Tokens
$AVAX is the native token of Avalanche. It is used to pay the gas fee on C-Chain, and 2000 tokens are required to be pledged to run a validator. Gas fees will be burned, and the maximum supply of $AVAX is 720 million.

5.DEFI
Avalanche has a vibrant DeFi ecosystem, including multi-chains (such as AAVE and Curve) and native projects. Here are some of them:
BenqiFinance- The largest native money market and liquidity staking provider. Controls nearly 5 million staked $AVAX.
Platypus- A pegged asset DEX that uses an asset-liability management model instead of a traditional bonding curve to determine prices. They were the first project to introduce the new ve model and are now extending it with voting and governance.

Traderjoe- The largest native DEX, which started as a fork of Sushi last year, but has also continued to develop and innovate since then. It offers the best token economics in the ecosystem, building a new centralized liquidity AMM with volatility-adjusted fees.
Vector- A Convex-like protocol that controls a large number of vePTP and veJOE (the governance tokens of Platypus and TraderJoe, respectively). The goal of the protocol is to use their holdings to increase the returns of all liquidity providers without accumulating ve-Token themselves.

YetiFinance- The CDP protocol, which allows users to borrow YUSD stablecoins with interest-bearing collateral. Operates through a model similar to Liquity (i.e. Troves). Recently announced modifications to the protocol by introducing PSM and interest rates.
YieldYak- Auto-reinvestors that support many protocols and farms (including TraderJoe, Platypus, Curve, AAVE). Recently liquidity staked $AVAX with their own $yyAVAX.
Dexalot- A CLOB designed to run on its own subnet. It has an ambitious roadmap that has been building over the past year and is getting closer to an official launch.

ArrowMarkets- Another project that has been in development for a while. They are developing an AMM for decentralized options trading, which is currently live on the testnet for everyone to use.
HubbleExchange- A recently launched perpetual futures exchange. Currently supports short or long $AVAX, and will support other tokens in the future.
RoboVault— Combining multiple protocols under one vault to generate incrementally neutral returns for users. Their USDC strategy has yielded ~7-10% APY, even in the current market.

6.NFT
Avalanche's NFT ecosystem has been lagging for a while, but there has been a noticeable increase in activity recently. There are three main NFT marketplaces, each with its own focus and set of features.
Joe pegsnft——Issuance Market, responsible for the first release of the project. Examples include: ConsciousLines, Peonnft, Smol Joes. Many series are incubated/developed internally through Joe Studios.
Campfire- more for less mature collectors and artists.

7. Games
Avalanche's subnetwork structure is perfect for gaming applications as it makes it easy for each game to run on its own chain without congesting/slowing down everyone else. So far, two games have and run their own subnets.
DefiKingdoms- Gamified DEX, expanded from Harmony in March, provides most of monthly trading volume.
Crabada- An Axie-like game that was originally on the C-Chain but migrated to its own game-oriented subnet in May of this year.
These two represent the"first generation", has an important economic element. The second generation is coming, with more and more games utilizing blockchain for some aspect of their gameplay.
Castlecrush- A mobile game with a huge player base that recently integrated the Avalanche NFT into itself.
Ascenders- is building a sci-fi RPG and released a nice demo this spring.

8. Tools/Resources
Navigating a new ecosystem is difficult. Here are some things to help you:
https://snowtrace.io - C-Chain's browser. If you've used Etherscan or something similar, you'll be fine with it.
https://avascan.info - Subnet-focused browser.
https://t.me/avalanchejobs - Job board for the Avalanche ecosystem.
https://joepegged.xyz - Tool to track Joepeg sales built by VirtualQuery.
