Web3 Fantasia 1: Why is the NFT honor system the killer feature of Web3?
Hi,Hello everyone, I am Chess, the founder of @ShowMe. ShowMe is the first NFT subscription social network to propose the concept of PONA. ShowMe expects to provide a complete and open Web 3.0 product for creators to create content, manage fans and audiences through subscription + PONA Support, and return the data to users, so that users can continue to capture the compound interest value generated by their own data.
Because I like to study the achievement system, and the emergence of ShowMe and many excellent achievement products or agreements, I have the motivation to update this article.
TL;DR:
NFT achievements can be understood as the reputation on the chain, and can also be understood as the manifestation of NFT assetization through the traditional achievement system of Web 2.0.
Gamified NFT achievement incentives are very important to Web 3.0. Whether it is user acquisition or activation retention, it will be a standard means for more Web 3.0 products in the future.
We are still in the early days of Web 3.0, and 2021 will be like the year 2000 of the Internet. When dealing with new Web 3.0 products, strategically, we must pay enough attention to experience them. Looking at the future value of products with a developmental perspective, we may find more good product targets.

One of the prerequisites for DeFi Summer, which started in June 2020, is that more and more users have gradually completed the stage of asset on-chain through various channels and methods in 2017-20:
The traditional Fiat is transferred to Crypto, and Paypal, Coinbase, Cash, Binance and other CeFi institutions provide channels for this
The transfer of non-ERC20 Coins to ERC20 is completed, such as RenBTC, WBTC and other bridge agreements

Web 3.0, the road to the Metaverse
So why is it said that the next Web 3.0 killer module is an NFT achievement? Before answering this question, we need to pay attention to the relationship between Crypto Assets and Data Assets. Data is the most critical oil in Web 3.0, and with the construction of scalability and openness, there will be evolutions between data beyond our current imagination and cognition. Obviously, in any comparison, the scale and expectations of Data Assets are much larger than pure Crypto Assets.
The NFT achievement is the proof and voucher of the assetization of Web 3.0 user data. Because of NFT, we can complete the most important closed loop in the Web 3.0 world.
With the innovation of Web 3.0 and the exponential growth of data on the chain, it will bring the biggest Alpha opportunity in the industry:
Compared with the last round of decentralized finance dominated by DeFi, its core is the asset chain. I think that in the next cycle, when Web 3.0 really explodes, data assetization will bring about greater paradigm innovation.
Data assetization means that all kinds of data generated by users on the chain will be NFTized (because of the differences between data, the possibility of Tokenization is not very high), and users will be able to completely determine the use of their own data, such as whether to Authorize more Web 3.0 applications to use data. We call this change DataFi (Data Finance).
Users will fully obtain the benefits of selling their own data. This process may be more like Yield Farming, except that the pledge is no longer the assets on the chain but their own data depository receipts. In the end, products with a good community foundation and product experience will take the lead in completing the positive cycle growth flywheel of "using the product → generating data → authorizing data → obtaining benefits → more people using the product", forming a more open scale effect.
Because of the natural scalability and interoperability of Web 3.0, the platform and data will not have the same monopoly effect as the Web 2.0 platform, and there will only be different types of products due to user habits and tendencies.

1. Overview: What are Achievements?
Quoting from Wikipedia's introduction to achievements:
Achievementis a special game object in a video game, which may be calledTrophies, Honors, Badges, Challenges, Rewardswait. In-game achievements can extend the game time, so that players not only pass the game level, but must complete all challenges and discover secrets in the game. These achievements can be consistent with the goals of the game itself, or can be independent of the game's primary or secondary In addition to goals, players must complete the game in a special way to obtain them. For example, pass the level without killing any enemies, must use limited skills to defeat enemies, or enter specific maps with specific props.

Achievement Incentives in Fitness
The successful operation of the achievement system has brought great stimulation and growth effects to Web 2.0, but some Web 2.0 bottlenecks cannot receive greater attention:
Achievement data is still a piece of data stored in a centralized database. In the era of Web 2.0 data belonging to the platform, it has nothing to do with users.
Achievement data cannot be traded and circulated, because data and ID cannot be decoupled in mechanism, and the platform itself has no motivation to open data. The common way is that if you want to trade some badges with rare achievements, most platforms need to trade the account itself together.
Achievement data is easy to be tampered with, because it belongs to the data stored in the centralized database, and the large platform of Web 2.0 has the supreme power to modify it at will, including but not limited to rarity, drop rate, completion conditions, achievement rewards, and even deletion of achievements.

The more achievements you have, the more noble your game avatar is. There are a lot of accomplished players in the World of Warcraft community, and top guilds often use some first-kill achievements in dungeons to highlight the guild's excellence. There are also many Game forums and databases built by players like Wowhead to serve achievements and other data queries.

2.5 Summary
2.5 Summary
Well, at this point we have spent a lot of space to specifically describe how achievements are designed and used in the Web 2.0 world. There are many success stories, but there are also many unsuccessful examples. The design of the achievement system has relatively strong requirements for several factors such as "gameplay", "degree of freedom", and "value perception" of the product scene. For example, it is very appropriate to add achievement design in the game, such as in fitness, reading Some products that require anti-human nature to persist for a long time will also have specific value, which proves the efforts of users. In summary:
Achievements need to be properly distributed, valuable, and closely related to the core functions of the product itself. For example, Steam's achievements are closely related to its own game community.
Achievements need to be quickly seen and clearly perceived by other users. This is the most important psychological motivation for users to obtain achievements. For example, World of Warcraft allows users to compare achievements with each other to strengthen this sense of difference, and Twitch has a relatively strong display in the live broadcast room. .
Achievements should have clear progress prompts, such as whether to obtain and the current progress of achievements that have not been obtained, so that users have the motivation to persevere and a clear sense of purpose, such as Fitness, World of Warcraft, etc. These are all under the framework of Web 2.0, how should the achievement of proposition composition be designed. But it also brings some problems because of the disadvantages of Web 2.0:
Achievements are still centralized data and belong to large platforms.
Achievements can still be tampered with by big platforms at will.
Achievements cannot be transferred and sold, and users cannot obtain economic benefits from achievements.
Achievements are not interoperable, and achievements earned in World of Warcraft do not get me more recognition on Steam.
If these problems are still maintained in the era of Web 2.0 big platform monopoly, it is completely impossible to solve them.

3.1 What is Web 3.0?
I believe that a thousand people have a thousand answers. Here I give the simplest definition summed up by the community to facilitate everyone's understanding:
1990-2005: Web 1.0-Read (readable)
2005-2020: Web 2.0-Read + Write (readable + writeable)
2020-? : Web 3.0-Read + Write + Own (readable + writable + ownable)

Web 2.0 vs Web 3.0

NFT is the container of Meta-data
The following are some excellent products or protocols that I personally think are involved in the achievements of Web 3.0 in NFT. Each has its own characteristics. I will introduce the characteristics of each product one by one:
POAP: The existence of a grandfather, the platform with the most users and NFT achievements, there is no doubt
ENS: One of the most important components of Web 3.0, the infinite imagination brought by domain name + NFT
DEGENSCORE: According to your historical behavior on the chain, to give Degen scores, which can be understood as Sesame Credit on the chain
ARCx: Passport on the chain, issuing passports based on past Defi behaviors, can also be understood as Sesame Credit on the chain
Project Galaxy: NFT reputation & certificate issuance protocol on the chain, which can customize the issuance conditions based on the agreement
Zapper: One of the best on-chain entry-type products that integrates the tasks of the credit wall mode, and can be exchanged for different NFTs according to the season
Rabbithole: The most original task aggregation product on the chain, accumulating experience points through tasks that can be automatically and clearly completed on the chain
ShowMe: A social platform for Web 3.0 creators to subscribe and manage user relationships, and the creator of PONA (Proof of NFT Achievements)

3.5 DEGENSCORE
DEGENSOCRE is a comprehensive Degen score on the chain. The total score accumulated in turn according to various index scores such as Defi, interacted products, etc. of the user address in the past is your Degen score. If domestic users understand it, it can be compared to Sesame Credit, which is based on the comprehensive score given after your consumption and asset certification of various products in the Ali system. Degen's score helps distinguish the difference between different users before.

There are also standards for recruiting people based on Degen scores, and I believe there will be more and more behaviors such as recruitment, organization, or entry thresholds based on Degen scores.

3.8 Zapper
Zapper is a Web3 entry-type product, which includes a variety of functions such as asset kanban, trading, one-click mining, and multi-address management and monitoring. Earlier this year, Zapper kicked off the first season of Quest and Rewads events. It is currently in its second season, and a variety of NFTs have been added.
Zapper ⚡️ (@zapper_fi) / Twitter
Quests are divided into daily tasks, weekly tasks and one-time tasks. They will reward different equivalents of XP and V respectively. XP is used to upgrade the level in the upper left corner, and V is used to exchange for NFT:
Daily tasks: sign in
Weekly tasks: add or remove liquidity through Zapper, trade, earn income through Pool and Save
image description

Zapper Homepage

Redeem NFT
I personally like the logic of Zapper very much. Domestic users should know that Qutoutiao, for example, is a credit wall model where users can complete specified tasks to obtain gold coins. Gold coins can be converted into legal currency to obtain income. Zapper proved that it is feasible to guide users to perform specified product actions through interesting tasks + NFT rewards, which also inspired the emergence of ShowMe. We believe that in the world of Web 3.0, it is feasible for users to obtain benefits through tasks. This Behavioral data is capitalized through NFT, which essentially becomes an NFT achievement, that is, the user's reputation accumulation on the chain, which is very valuable.
3.9 Rabbithole
Rabbithole is a task-oriented achievement product on the chain. By supporting various protocols or key actions of products, it helps more products gain user attention. When users complete certain tasks, they will also get Rabbithole experience points. The more experience points, the higher the level, and the current level does not have any special use.
rabbitholegg.eth (@rabbithole_gg) / Twitter
At present, Rabbithole supports as many as 18 projects, covering multiple networks such as ETH main network, Polygon, Celo, and Optimism.

Let's take ENS as an example. It contains two tasks. After each task is completed, you can receive experience points:

Mini Royale is a GameFi I have seen that combines traditional games and uses NFT achievements to make gameplay and incentives very good. From the daily rewards to the setting of the Battle Pass, they also refer to the classic ideas of traditional shooting games. The difference is that after these NFTs are chained in the future, it will be easier to circulate, recombine, and combine DeFi gameplay, etc.
At this point, we have introduced and summarized some interesting Web 3.0 products or protocols that combine NFT achievements. As more and more users have more and more data and behaviors on the chain, the NFT achievements (reputation) on the chain will have more and more subdivisions:
The Generation of NFT Achievements: How and Where to Generate NFTs
Analysis of NFT achievements: Based on the huge NFT achievement data, if it is efficiently classified and analyzed, it will become a cleaned database
Encryption of NFT achievements: return the authority of data control to users through encrypted storage
The use of NFT achievements: how users can efficiently authorize their data usage rights or ownership to more Web 3.0 applications or protocols and capture value from them
