Tutorial | Learn how to receive ENS airdrops in three minutes
The Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is launching a DAO, represented in the real world by the Cayman Islands Foundation.
If you ever owned the ENS name, you are eligible for $ENS governance tokens. Claims will begin on November 8, 2021 and run until May 4, 2022, after which any remaining tokens will be sent to the DAO vault.
The ENS token contract is 0xC18360217D8F7Ab5e7c516566761Ea12Ce7F9D72
There will be a total of $100 million in ENS tokens, distributed as follows:
25% airdrop to .ETH holders
25% to ENS contributors
50% to the DAO community treasury
All addresses at the account level that are or have been registrants for .ETH second-level domains based on the total time of past registrations and future registrations for the addresses as of October 31, 2021.
The token distribution formula considers the following factors:
How old is the .ETH address
current expiration date
Users who set up the main ENS (formerly known as the reverse record) can get a 2x multiplier.
Before going through the process, it is recommended to do a quick check to see if you are eligible to claim using this community-made tool.
Just paste your address in the search bar and it will show potential pickups.
Step 1: Go to claim.ens.domains and connect your wallet
Step 2: Click Start
Step 3: Check for eligibility
Step 4: Reasons to Browse ENS Tokens
$ENS token holders can manage protocol parameters such as .ETH pricing, price oracles, etc., and also control funding from existing communities, as well as earn future revenue.
Step 5: Read and approve the charter
The ENS team has created an initial set of community guidelines for voting or disapproving of claimable ENS allocations. Voting is gas-free and off-chain using Snapshots.
A provision of the charter must be approved by a two-thirds majority in the first week to take effect.
Future amendments to this constitution may be made by a two-thirds majority and at least 1% of tokens.
The following is the charter:
Name ownership is inviolable
Fees are primarily an incentive mechanism
Income Fund, ENS and other public goods
ENS integration with global namespace
Sign with wallet (no gas needed)
Step Six: Choose an Agent
ENS token holders will be able to delegate their voting power to community leaders who volunteer to take an active role in governance.
A community member can be chosen to represent oneself (can be changed at any time), delegated to someone not listed or to yourself by entering an ENS name or Ethereum address.
Step Seven: Check Pickup and Delegate
After selecting an agent, click the Claim button and sign the transaction.
It requires about 152K gas.
After this, you should see $ENS tokens in your wallet!
