WMP：. They've been doing some really interesting things lately to help the NFT space, so I'm excited to hear what Caleb has in mind. Here's a short Q&A about what he and his team are doing.

Caleb Sheridan：Chainlink VRFVRF technology may not be as flashy as some of the other innovations in the crypto economy, yet it is an important solution with tons of potential to grow. Can you walk the reader through what Chainlink VRF does and why it is useful?

is a random number generator designed for smart contracts. Players and users can be more confident when using applications that integrate Chainlink VRF, because each random number is verified on-chain to prove that it has not been tampered with. This is a leap forward for smart contracts. Blockchain games will become more interesting.

Random outcomes are widely used by the traditional gaming industry to great effect. Randomly generated worlds help attract and retain players. The fun/skill ratio is regularly balanced with randomness. Rewards are distributed randomly to facilitate the sale of virtual goods. Randomness is that secret ingredient, and in the right measures, it can make games better. But due to security issues, randomness is hard to achieve in smart contracts, so people keep missing it.

WMP：Chainlink VRF gives smart contract developers access to provably fair and tamper-proof randomness with just a few lines of code. The ultimate beneficiaries are the players, who will enjoy the game better and it will protect them from financial loss. Developers can prove to users that their games are trustworthy, and no one can be biased against random results, including exploiting users, miners, and even the game's own developers.

CS：WildcardsNFT conservation project Wildcards recently decided to start using Chainlink VRF. Can you talk about the way of integration?

is a meaningful project. They use NFTs to facilitate user donations for wildlife conservation. First-generation Wildcards NFTs represent an actual animal and drive monthly donations to specific conservation efforts. The team is using Chainlink VRF to expand the collection and increase user engagement.

WMP：Chainlink VRF will be used to incubate new Wildcards and incentivize voters to participate in ecosystem decisions through random rewards. These features serve Wildcards' ultimate goal of contributing more to wildlife conservation efforts and research.

CS：In your opinion, do you think it is only a matter of time before VRF technology sees considerable adoption? Are we still a few years away from this point, or can we break through sooner?

Chainlink VRF will grow together with blockchain games in two ways: blockchain games using Chainlink VRF will be more interesting and attract more users; the rapidly growing ecosystem will evaluate past security about generating randomness decision making.

WMP：A very wide range of blockchain game developers can now use time-tested features from traditional games to reach new heights. Every blockchain project must evaluate how cryptographically verified randomness can help them meet their user adoption, security, and UX goals.

CS：How do you see the efforts of the Chainlink VRF team aligning with the mission of the broader Chainlink project?

Chainlink gives blockchain developers the ability to connect smart contracts to the outside world. Smart contract developers using Chainlink have this whole set of additional tools, including verifiable randomness, to make smart contracts more useful to users. Getting smart contracts to work with the services you already use is an easy step towards wider adoption, and Chainlink helps make that happen.
