Odaily News: According to the latest data from QUICK FactSet, a global economic research and analysis platform, in the second quarter of 2026, Changxin Memory's EBIT margin reached 82%, surpassing SK Hynix (76%) and Samsung Electronics' semiconductor business (70%), making it the most profitable memory chip manufacturer globally for that period. During the same period, Changxin Memory's revenue grew approximately 10-fold year-over-year, the fastest growth rate among six companies: Changxin Memory, Samsung, SK Hynix, Micron, Kioxia, and SanDisk.
Some analysts believe that the rise in Changxin Memory's profit margin is closely related to changes in supply and demand in the memory chip sector during this cycle. As Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron allocate more resources to high-bandwidth memory for AI servers, supply of ordinary DRAM has tightened, DDR5 prices have risen sharply, and Changxin Memory has benefited as a result. Odaily News: Analyst Mike Cahill pointed out that if CPI data comes in stronger and the result is broad-based enough, the Fed may take action, as this would deviate from the policy framework proposed by Williams and Waller this summer. If the data is softer, it should be enough for the Fed to keep rates unchanged without triggering an adverse market reaction. But if the data lands somewhere in the middle, the situation becomes more tricky, because the market is already visibly uneasy about inflation running at around 2.5% while the Fed remains on hold.
Overall, Cahill believes that the weakening dollar reflects several factors, including the Fed's inclination to keep rates unchanged, and the Treasury's already demonstrated policy preference for letting the foreign exchange market adjust rather than putting adjustment pressure on the fixed income market. Odaily reports: JPMorgan strategists said in a report that the US Treasury accepted a broader range of bonds in Thursday's buyback operation, and the final transaction size fell short of the set ceiling, which may indicate that the quality of bids has declined compared to recent operations. Despite the larger operation size, the total amount of bids submitted remained at a recent low, and the ratio of bids to the ceiling also fell to the lowest level since the launch of the buyback program for this sector.
The Treasury ultimately purchased $5.2 billion in long-term bonds, below its original maximum purchase target of $6 billion. In addition, the US is maintaining a 6% budget deficit while the economy is near full employment, and "this problem cannot be resolved without substantive fiscal consolidation." (Jinshi)
