Solana merges SIMD-0567 proposal, plans to replace existing ATA program with p-ATA

Odaily reports: The Solana Foundation has merged the SIMD-0567 proposal into the main branch. The proposal plans to replace the existing Associated Token Account (ATA) program with an optimized version called p-ATA, developed based on Pinocchio, to reduce compute unit (CU) consumption and improve execution efficiency. Developers' previous benchmark tests showed that compared with the old program, p-ATA can reduce transaction execution time by approximately 35%; when the Rent Sysvar account is provided, CU consumption is further reduced, but actual execution time increases slightly, with a transaction-level time regression of about 1%. The proposal was merged 17 hours ago, but the merge does not mean the program replacement on mainnet has been completed; the new program still needs to be deployed according to the established migration process.
