CCTP V1 cross-chain transfers will be suspended on December 1, with Circle reducing limits starting October 31

Odaily reports: Circle plans to gradually reduce the burn limits of the legacy Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol CCTP V1 starting October 31, 2026, and will pause the related contracts on December 1, at which point the legacy routes will no longer support USDC cross-chain transfers. The new version of CCTP uses independent contracts and APIs and is not backward compatible, so applications, wallets, and bridge services using the old version will need to proactively update their integrations. Circle stated that it will retain sufficient mint allowance so that pending transfers that have already been attested can be completed before the suspension; the specific limit tiers and interim adjustment dates have not yet been disclosed.

The Noble chain will not integrate with the new version of CCTP. Circle plans to suspend the USDC contract on Noble and the remaining cross-chain routes on January 12, 2027; holders need to transfer out their USDC before then. Circle will take a snapshot of remaining balances on the day of suspension and begin manual redemption starting January 13. Applicants must meet compliance and security requirements, and their assets must be in a self-custodied wallet.
