The IRS plans to launch a reformed voluntary disclosure program by the end of November, with no separate process for cryptocurrency

Odaily: Jarod Koopman, head of criminal investigation at the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS), said that the IRS plans to launch a reformed Voluntary Disclosure Program (VDP) by the end of November, with the goal of shortening the case processing period to a maximum of 120 days after taxpayers submit complete materials, while reducing penalty amounts under the current system and considering arrangements such as installment payments.

Koopman explicitly stated that the IRS will not establish a separate voluntary disclosure procedure for cryptocurrencies and other digital assets; the relevant income will be treated the same as other sources of taxable income and uniformly handled under the general voluntary disclosure program.
