£5.6 Million Returned: Qian Zhimin Case Accomplice Hok Seng Ling Ordered to Hand Over Case-Related Funds
Odaily: Hok Seng Ling once assisted Qian Zhimin in money laundering. The Ponzi scheme orchestrated by Qian Zhimin defrauded over 128,000 Chinese investors between 2014 and 2017, after which the proceeds were converted into Bitcoin and she fled to the United Kingdom. Hok Seng Ling helped Qian Zhimin evade British police investigation by booking Airbnb accommodations and arranging assistants. Last November, Hok Seng Ling pleaded guilty to money laundering-related charges at Southwark Crown Court in London and was sentenced to 4 years and 11 months in prison. The court subsequently ordered him to hand over £5,603,305, most of which came from cryptocurrency seized at the time of his arrest. All of the above funds have now been recovered, along with an additional £1,990 in interest.
