Mt. Gox still holds approximately 34,400 BTC, worth about $2.8 billion, with creditor repayment deadline extended to October 2027
Odaily reports: The defunct cryptocurrency exchange Mt. Gox has extended its creditor repayment deadline to October 31, 2027. Trustee Nobuaki Kobayashi stated that the Tokyo District Court has approved the adjustment of the relevant repayment deadline.
This is Mt. Gox's sixth extension since 2023. Creditors who have completed the necessary procedures without issues have mostly received their repayments; however, some creditors have yet to receive funds due to incomplete procedures or payment processing issues.
Mt. Gox began repaying creditors in Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash in July 2024, and stated in March 2025 that more than 19,500 creditors had received repayments. The latest notice did not disclose the number of outstanding creditors or the amount of Bitcoin still to be distributed.
As of Tuesday, wallets attributed to Mt. Gox still held approximately 34,400 Bitcoin, worth about $2.8 billion. (Cointelegraph)
