Ethereum Glamsterdam upgrade transition period carries staking deposit front-running risk, Lido engineering lead warns

Odaily: Lido engineering lead Dima Gusakov stated that during the transition of the Ethereum Glamsterdam hard fork, delegated staking protocols face front-running attack risks. Glamsterdam will introduce builder deposits using 0xB0-prefixed withdrawal credentials. Before and after the fork, such deposits will share the deposit queue with validator deposits. Malicious node operators could exploit this to front-run stakers' funds, causing them to be credited to the attacker's builder account, while the corresponding validator cannot be activated. The related fix proposal consensus-specs 5735 has been closed with "not planned" status, and defense requires each staking protocol to conduct its own pre-deposit checks.
