Aptos' encrypted mempool feature has launched on mainnet, aiming to prevent front-running and sandwich attacks
Odaily: Layer 1 blockchain Aptos has announced that its Encrypted Mempool feature is now live on mainnet, designed to mitigate maximal extractable value (MEV)-related risks, including front-running and sandwich attacks.
The feature is an opt-in mechanism. Once enabled by users, pending transactions remain encrypted until block transaction ordering is finalized, preventing bots from accessing information such as transaction assets, amounts, and smart contract interactions in advance and using that information to execute targeted trades.
Aptos stated that the feature is primarily aimed at institutions executing large on-chain transactions, traders looking to reduce MEV risk, AI agents, and developers.
According to Cointelegraph, citing EigenPhi data, Ethereum traders lost approximately $60 million to sandwich attacks in the 12 months ending October 2025. Separately, according to Bitquery statistics, Solana experienced nearly 6.9 million sandwich attacks during an 11-month observation period, involving approximately 2.2 million wallets and generating about $29.7 million in profits for the bots involved.
