Strategy Remains in MSCI Indexes as MSCI Tightens Review Rules for Bitcoin Treasury Companies
Odaily reports that on October 15, MSCI revised the eligibility rules for constituents of its global investable market indexes, tightening the definition of "non-operating companies" and placing Bitcoin treasury-type companies under stricter scrutiny. Strategy, led by Michael Saylor, has not been removed from MSCI indexes for now. MSCI said it will assess whether a company qualifies as "non-operating" based on its operational and financial characteristics, noting that companies holding digital assets may still have genuine operating businesses; existing constituents are also subject to a buffer mechanism, and the relevant consequences will need to be further clarified at the November index review.
