Telegram Provides Specific User Data to U.S. Law Enforcement, Including Phone Numbers and Last Login IP Addresses
Odaily: Recently disclosed U.S. federal court documents show that Telegram provided personal information of specific users to U.S. law enforcement after receiving valid legal requests.
The documents show that the information Telegram provided in September 2026 included users' phone numbers, user IDs, account display names, and last login IP addresses and timestamps. Telegram stated that this data provision was voluntary, does not represent its acknowledgment of being subject to U.S. jurisdiction, and did not disclose chat content or contact information.
It is reported that Telegram adjusted its privacy policy in September 2024, allowing it to disclose users' IP addresses and phone numbers to judicial authorities when relevant conditions are met. Throughout 2024, Telegram responded to approximately 900 U.S. law enforcement requests involving 2,253 users. (404 Media)
