Jump Trading and DRW Enter the AI Compute Derivatives Market, Plan to Provide Market-Making Services for Compute Futures on CME and Other Exchanges

Odaily: Quantitative trading firms Jump Trading and DRW are dedicating trading teams and proprietary capital to enter the emerging AI compute derivatives market.

Jump Trading has assembled a dedicated trading team and plans to use its own balance sheet to bear trading risk, providing market-making services for the compute futures that CME Group and Silicon Data plan to launch, as well as for competing contracts from Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) in partnership with Ornn.

DRW plans to participate in compute trading through three teams employing different strategies. It has already planned to trade Silicon Data's related products but has not yet decided whether to participate in other compute contracts.

Analysts noted that the compute derivatives market still faces challenges such as insufficient price transparency, significant GPU price disparities across different regions and configurations, and the inability to store compute. (Bloomberg)
