Paul Tudor Jones: 2027 Could Be a Tough Year for US Stocks, Says He'd Short the Market All Year
Odaily reports: Legendary hedge fund manager and Tudor Investment founder Paul Tudor Jones said on CNBC's "Squawk Box" that 2027 could be an extremely challenging year for US stocks, with the market potentially facing its most unfavorable capital flow environment since 2002.
Jones noted that in recent years, corporate buybacks and M&A have reduced equity supply and supported US stock gains. However, with potential IPOs from AI giants like OpenAI and Anthropic, along with subsequent secondary offerings, equity supply could increase significantly, creating pressures reminiscent of the dot-com bubble era. He also warned that expanding US fiscal deficits and rising energy prices could further weigh on the stock market. Jones revealed he currently holds long positions in oil, expecting crude prices to rise another $20 to $25 after the US midterm elections. On the 2027 market outlook, he said bluntly: "I'll be short all year."
