MARA Pays $100 Million Deposit for Texas Data Center Project
Odaily reports: Bitcoin mining company MARA has announced that it has paid a $100 million power deposit for its data center project in Matagorda County, Texas, and has adjusted the payment and exit terms of its deal with sustainable fuel developer HIF USA. The project covers over 1,200 acres and is planned for up to 2 gigawatts of power capacity, with MARA planning to build a campus supporting high-performance computing and Bitcoin mining.
Under the revised agreement, certain payments originally tied to regulatory approval will be made in two installments; if all milestones are met, the total acquisition price cap for the project remains at $600 million.
