Oracle Invokes "Force Majeure" Clause to Avoid Disputed Data Center Project
Odaily News: Oracle (ORCL.N) is attempting to avoid the massive costs associated with a large data center project in New Mexico, which undoubtedly adds new uncertainties to a project already plagued by opposition and regulatory obstacles. According to people familiar with the matter, Oracle has sent a notice to a subsidiary of Blue Owl Capital, the project's developer, invoking the force majeure clause.
The sources said Oracle is not seeking to exit the project as the primary tenant, but rather wants to defer payments in the event that the "Project Jupiter" data center project experiences delays and fails to come online as planned in 2028. (Bloomberg)
