Anthropic CEO: Company Will Slow Down AI Development Progress for Safety Reasons

Odaily News: Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei stated at a United Nations Security Council meeting that without effective management, AI could pose an existential risk to humanity, and Anthropic will slow down its AI development progress for safety reasons.

Amodei said that AI could be used to manufacture bioweapons and could also develop into systems beyond developers' control. He called for the establishment of global AI safety standards, an AI safety certification system, and cross-border regulatory cooperation. He also noted that AI is driving progress in life sciences research, but the related technologies could likewise bring significant risks.
