France Crackdowns on a Crypto Home Invasion Kidnapping and Extortion Case, 5 Suspects Arrested
Odaily News: The French National Gendarmerie has cracked a violent cryptocurrency-related kidnapping and extortion case that occurred in March 2026, arresting 5 suspects in their 20s in Paris, Isère, and Brittany. According to the case details, two masked men armed with knives broke into the home of a 48-year-old woman in Taninges, Haute-Savoie, in March, binding and beating the victim for several hours and attempting to seize valuables and crypto assets. The suspects then attempted to abduct and transport the victim using her own vehicle, but she managed to escape and seek help from neighbors. Following detention and investigation, 4 suspects were formally charged with unlawful imprisonment and attempted extortion, with 3 of them placed in pre-trial detention. (Le Dauphiné Libéré)
