Trump's roughly $800 million WLFI holdings get a clear unlock schedule, with unlocking potentially beginning as early as 2028

Odaily reports: On-chain data shows that an amount of WLFI matching the scale of the World Liberty Financial token holdings previously disclosed by U.S. President Trump was transferred into a vesting contract in May of this year. The relevant wallet initially deposited 15.75 billion WLFI, and after burning 10% according to the rules, 14.175 billion remained, consistent with the founder allocation disclosed by Trump and worth approximately $800 million at current prices.

Under the new vesting arrangement, this portion of WLFI will undergo a two-year lock-up period, followed by gradual unlocking over three years, meaning unlocking will not begin until 2028 at the earliest. Previously, this portion of Trump's founder tokens was in an indefinitely locked state, with no clear timetable for sale.

It is worth noting that the new version of the CLARITY Act recently added stricter crypto asset ethics provisions, proposing to require senior government officials holding large amounts of crypto assets to sell the relevant interests or place them in a qualified blind trust. However, the aforementioned WLFI had already entered the vesting contract as early as May of this year, and there is currently no evidence that this arrangement is related to the new version of the bill.
