Injective: No On-Chain Attack; INJ and User Funds Remained Safe Throughout the Upgrade
Odaily News - Injective officially stated that an accelerated network upgrade yesterday took longer than expected, but throughout the entire process, the Injective blockchain and INJ assets remained secure. The protocol and consensus mechanism were not compromised, and user and staked funds were unaffected.
The upgrade originated from the exploitation of binary options markets in a small number of ecosystem applications. The scope of the attack was limited to the relevant applications and did not touch the Injective chain itself. During the upgrade, some validators were temporarily suspended from validating for not completing the upgrade in time, causing a temporary decline in network staking. Some exchanges also paused deposits and withdrawals to update their nodes.
Injective stated that the relevant attack vectors have been fixed, and stricter constraints, real-time monitoring, and security protection mechanisms will be introduced moving forward.
