Odaily Planet Daily News Chinese chipmaker CXMT (ChangXin Memory Technologies) has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Defense, seeking removal from a blacklist. According to Bloomberg, CXMT stated that its chips are designed for civilian and commercial use, not military purposes, and that it was erroneously placed on the blacklist. The lawsuit has been filed with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, with U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth also named as a defendant. In a statement issued after filing the lawsuit, CXMT said it is not a military-industrial enterprise and that its reputation and commercial interests have continued to suffer since it was first blacklisted in January 2025. The company added that it took this action to protect its commercial interests. According to Reuters, the U.S. Department of Defense said in a statement that, as a matter of policy, it does not comment on unsettled or ongoing litigation. (Jin Ten)
