6 dormant Bitcoin wallets, inactive for over 10 years, moved approximately $40 million worth of BTC, with most funds not flowing to exchanges
Odaily News: Six Bitcoin wallets that had remained inactive since 2011 to 2014 collectively transferred out 553.59 BTC, valued at approximately $40 million, between August 16 and 26. Among them, funds from five wallets were sent to addresses not associated with any known exchanges, while only one wallet transferred 40 BTC to German crypto custody and trading service provider Boerse Stuttgart Digital.
Galaxy Research data shows that on-chain movement of dormant Bitcoin fell to its lowest level since 2022 in the second quarter of this year, with full-year movement in 2026 expected to be less than half of last year's total. Galaxy Research Director Alex Thorn stated that the whale clients he has engaged with are not selling Bitcoin due to quantum computing risks, but some institutional investors have indeed paused their purchases because of such concerns.
