Ripple outlines four-phase quantum-resistance upgrade plan for XRP Ledger
Odaily News Ripple developers have stated that they are formulating a long-term upgrade plan to address quantum computing threats for the XRP Ledger, aiming to prevent future quantum computers from cracking existing encryption mechanisms and exposing private keys. The plan is divided into four phases, covering the period before and after a severe quantum threat emerges: first, assess the potentially vulnerable parts of the network, then test the performance of alternative encryption solutions under current blockchain workloads; subsequently, run both existing security mechanisms and quantum-resistant alternatives simultaneously, and finally migrate the entire network to the alternative solutions. The plan also includes contingency measures to address scenarios where quantum computing develops faster than expected.
