Odaily News: X has issued a cease and desist letter to Nitter, an open-source third-party X front-end project, demanding the permanent shutdown of all Nitter instances and the removal of its code repository. As of now, nitter.net has gone offline, development has been temporarily halted, and the developers are seeking legal advice.

X accuses Nitter of illegally using and bypassing its API, scraping X platform data, and accessing accounts and sessions in violation of platform rules and relevant laws. X has demanded that Nitter cease operations by 5:00 PM ET on August 25.

Nitter allows users to view public posts without logging into an X account, while also removing ads, tracking cookies, and JavaScript. (TechCrunch)
