Mainland存量投资者清退进行时:汇丰香港要求相关客户于9月12日前确认资金来源
Odaily News: According to sources, HSBC Hong Kong has recently begun notifying certain mainland Chinese existing investment clients, requiring them to submit the "Declaration for Opening/Maintaining Account" via the HSBC Hong Kong App by September 12, and update their contact information. The declaration includes confirming that funds used for investment activities come from legitimate sources outside mainland China, and acknowledging that the bank may disclose personal information upon requests from law enforcement or regulatory authorities. The notice also states that if the declaration is not submitted by August 20, investment-related services may be suspended; if still not submitted by September 12, investment-related services may be terminated.
In response, an HSBC Hong Kong spokesperson told Jiemian News reporters: "When managing investment client relationships, we follow relevant regulatory requirements. Therefore, we have invited relevant mainland Chinese investors to provide self-declarations and confirm that the information provided during 'Know Your Customer' (KYC) and 'Customer Due Diligence' processes is current and valid. This helps us continue to provide services to our clients without interruption. This latest declaration requirement applies only to our investment services clients." Jiemian News reporters learned that in May this year, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority issued a notice on "Supervisory measures to be taken when opening investment accounts and maintaining relationships with clients," which includes "additional measures to be taken when opening and managing investment accounts for mainland Chinese investors," specifically covering measures such as "closing investment accounts opened using suspicious or forged documents," "closing dormant investment accounts with zero balance," and "opening new investment accounts."
