Odaily reported that SpaceX plans to construct a $100 billion Starship launch facility along the southern coast of Louisiana, adding a third Starship launch site. Located on Pecan Island, the base spans approximately 125,000 acres and will feature 5 launch complexes, 10 launch pads, as well as facilities for propellant production, power generation, spacecraft processing, and employee housing. The site will help SpaceX increase Starship launch frequency and support future plans to deploy up to 1 million data center satellites. The Starship will also be used to launch upgraded Starlink satellites, with orbital data center missions scheduled as early as 2027, and is planned to carry NASA astronauts to the Moon as early as 2028.
