Odaily Planet Daily News The Coinbase Bitcoin Premium Index has remained in negative territory for 97 consecutive days from May 19 to August 23, with the latest reading at -0.0266%, setting a new record for the longest consecutive negative premium streak since the index's launch. The previous record was 40 consecutive days from January 16 to February 24 this year, also surpassing the roughly 30-day negative premium stretch during last year's "1011 crash" period.

The index measures the Bitcoin price spread between Coinbase Pro and Binance. A persistently negative reading typically indicates relatively lower quotes on Coinbase, which may reflect weak buying interest or heavy selling pressure in the U.S. market. However, it should not be used as the sole indicator to conclude that institutional capital is flowing out.
