The Sandbox confirms SAND cross-chain bridge vulnerability, cross-chain functionality on Base and BSC networks suspended

Odaily reports that The Sandbox has officially confirmed and contained a vulnerability in the SAND cross-chain bridge. Through the exploit, attackers minted unbacked SAND on the Base and BSC networks, with the amount involved representing less than 0.01% of the total SAND supply. SAND on the Ethereum and Polygon networks is unaffected, and user wallets have not been compromised.

The Sandbox has currently suspended SAND cross-chain functionality on the Base and BSC networks and has isolated the affected SAND, making it temporarily untransferable or unredeemable. The official team reminds users to refrain from trading SAND on the aforementioned networks and states that a compensation plan for affected LP users is being formulated, with a full incident report to be published subsequently.
