Warning notices surged to 81,200, UK tax authority issues reminders to cryptocurrency investors

Odaily News: In the 2025-26 fiscal year, HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) sent 81,172 warning letters, emails, and text messages to cryptocurrency investors suspected of underpaying taxes; in the 2023-24 fiscal year, that figure was 27,714. Accountants are urging investors to check whether they owe taxes, as upcoming new powers will make it easier for HMRC to target individuals.
