Japanese and South Korean stock markets opened high and closed higher

Odaily News, according to Gate data, the Nikkei 225 index closed up 890.37 points, or 1.36%, at 66,216.79 points on Thursday, August 20. The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) closed up 381.41 points, or 5.89%, at 6,852.58 points on Thursday, August 20. Samsung Electronics rose nearly 9%, while SK Hynix gained over 13%.
