李飞飞警告美国AI反弹情绪升温:若缺乏积极发展路径,全球都将受影响
Odaily News - Artificial intelligence pioneer Fei-Fei Li stated that the tech industry needs to better communicate the value AI brings to the public, and warned that the growing anti-AI sentiment in the United States could pose risks to global AI development.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Fei-Fei Li said that tech professionals need to strengthen communication with the public and demonstrate the positive impact AI technology can deliver. She noted, "If we don't show a positive attitude and a positive direction of development, everyone will be affected." She added that the U.S. holds significant influence in the global tech sector, and if it fails to exhibit "a positive AI attitude and development path," the entire world will ultimately be impacted.
As a leading researcher in computer vision, Fei-Fei Li has in recent years continuously pushed AI technology from the lab toward real-world applications. Her AI startup, World Labs, is dedicated to developing spatial intelligence technology, exploring AI's ability to understand and interact with the physical world.
Fei-Fei Li believes the current challenges facing the AI industry extend beyond technical hurdles to include social acceptance, public trust, and regulatory environments. With the rapid proliferation of generative AI, concerns over employment impact, data privacy, and security risks have intensified, and the backlash against AI development in American society is growing. She emphasized that the AI industry needs to take a more proactive approach in explaining how the technology improves healthcare, scientific research, and production efficiency, rather than focusing solely on technological competition itself.
In recent years, major global tech companies have continued to increase AI investment, driving advances in large models, AI infrastructure, and intelligent agents. At the same time, however, issues such as AI regulation, job displacement, and social impact have also become focal points for policymakers and the public. (Bloomberg)
