Individual stocks accounted for approximately 70% of total purchases, primarily driven by long stock buying, with short covering having a smaller impact. The information technology and communication services sectors saw the strongest demand, with 8 of 11 industry sectors recording net buying.
Additionally, macro products such as index futures and ETFs accounted for about 30% of total demand, while short positions in U.S.-listed ETFs decreased for the sixth consecutive week. Hedge funds are doubling down on U.S. stocks.
