Google plans to spend $10 million to purchase Spirit Airlines corporate data to improve its AI models
Odaily News, Google has agreed to purchase the corporate data of bankrupt Spirit Airlines for $10 million to improve its products and AI models. The relevant data includes internal emails, Microsoft Teams messages, spreadsheets, calendars, booking and frequent flyer records, as well as marketing, operations, and human resources information. Google stated that it has already removed personally identifiable information before obtaining the data and will not acquire personal information through this deal.
Spirit Airlines ceased operations in May this year and is currently selling its remaining assets through bankruptcy proceedings. Additionally, the transaction still requires approval from the U.S. bankruptcy court, with a hearing scheduled for Wednesday. (Decrypt)
