2026-08-18 08:25

Odaily Planet Daily News According to Nikkei News, SoftBank Group plans to issue approximately 1 trillion yen ($6.26 billion) in corporate bonds to Japanese retail investors, which is expected to become the largest retail bond issuance in Japanese corporate history. This will be SoftBank Group's third retail bond issuance this year, following two previous issuances in April and June. The bonds have a maturity of 7 years, with specific terms (including interest rates) to be finalized in early September. Analysts expect the coupon rate to be above 4%.

SoftBank Group plans to use the raised funds for bond redemptions and investments in physical artificial intelligence, including corporate acquisitions. The company has previously announced plans to spend $5.4 billion to acquire the robotics division of Swiss engineering company ABB. (Jin Shi)
