Iran: 60-Day Deadline 'Completely Meaningless' After US Violates Memorandum of Understanding
Odaily News: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baqaei stated that after the United States violated the memorandum of understanding signed between Tehran and Washington on June 18, the so-called "60-day deadline" no longer holds any significance. Baqaei said: "There is no mention of a '60-day deadline' in any provision of the memorandum of understanding, and the Islamic Republic of Iran never formulates policies under pressure, ultimatums, or time constraints."
He noted that the memorandum originally set a 60-day period for negotiations on the two topics of "lifting sanctions" and "nuclear issues"; if no agreement was reached by then, the deadline could have been extended. However, because the United States "seriously and broadly violated" the agreement just weeks after signing, the negotiations never commenced. He added: "Therefore, the so-called 60-day deadline has become completely meaningless." (Jin10)
